So, we started with the fact that I didn't like our mirror, lots of dyi shows, and a housewarming gift card to Lowes. Friday night I started to look at blogs about framing mirrors. I showed Justin some examples and we decided it was a simple project we could easily do. I also came across several blogs about updating bathroom vanities. I have never liked ours, and I am usually not a van of hardware on cabinet doors, but I really liked the way a lot of them looked. So, after Jack's morning nap we headed to Lowes to get some paint and wood for our frame and to paint the vanity.
While Jack took his afternoon nap, we cut the wood and while painted them and started to prime the doors to the vanity I started to tape the bathroom.
This is when I discovered that our faucets were really really gross! We had talked about eventually wanting to replace them as they are really low, which makes it hard to wash your hands and to clean them. Not to mention, that they are just cheap and ugly. I called Justin is the bathroom and told him our project had just gotten a lot bigger and expensive, lol.
We decided it was time to go ahead and change the faucets. After all, the youtube videos make it look super easy. Installing the new faucet was pretty easy, taking out the old ones was not! It took us over 3 hours to take the old ones out! We had many trips to the hardware store and target during this project. But we did get to play with some fun tools, like these:
So to the fun part, pictures!
Before we moved into to our house this is what the bathroom looked like:
Before we moved in we got new light fixtures and painted it. You can see that post here.
And here is what it looks like now:
I will blog about the mirror itself later. We are also painting (it's currently in pieces in the garage drying) a small cabinet we have in the bathroom and we changed out the towel bars so everything would match.
So, what started off as a simple project ended turning into a pretty big make over. I LOVE the way it all turned out!
