First we measured our mirror, we then went to a local hardware store to pick out wood and paint. We decided to go with primed wood to safe us a step and made sure to pick out a color that could be done in bathroom paint. The cutting of the wood was very simple, we just measured and cut it at 90 degree angles. Before anything else, we made sure that the pieces would match up and fit on our mirror.
We didn't stop to take pictures of the first few steps, but here are the next few steps with pictures:

we lined up the wood with the clips holding up the mirror and marked it

As the wood was really soft we used a utility knife to carve out where the clips are so that frame would sit flush against the mirror

We then painted an inch in on the back of the pieces as mirrors reflect whatever is on them

We glued the pieces on with liquid nail. You want to be careful to not get any glue on the top edge of the wood as this too will reflect on the mirror
We glued the bottom on first, then the sides, then the the top. Once everything was glued we held it all in place with painters tape. We left it to dry over night.
In the morning I used painters putty to fill in the little joint gaps, waited the 15 minutes it takes to set them painted over it. Sorry I didn't get any pictures of those steps.
And here is the final result, we also painted the vanity and changed the faucets during this project
