Floors!

Here are some of the before pictures:

Step 1: Pulling out the old carpet: Angelique helped, but I didn't get any pictures of her working
Step 2: once carpet and padding is out we had to remove all the wood/nails that held the carpet together, Angelique, mom and Marcelo helped with this too

Step 3: Getting floors even and ready As the house is on a concrete slab, we had to level out some patches, most of this was done by Marcelo
Step 4: place down padding

Step 5: put down the interlocking wood. We were under the impression/hoped it would be quick and easy. But, with all home renovations it took a good bit longer than we expected! Mom and Marcelo did most of the work, I mostly just cut wood with the saws (I got to play with some fun saws!)

After the wood was done we still had a lot of work to do! It took mom and marcelo a couple evenings to cut and install all the quarter round, then Justin's mom painted them all. Finally we had to figure out all the threshold. The thresholds turned out to be so much more work than we anticipated! It wasn't hard to do but it was really hard to find something that would work for each area we needed! We ended up (after many trips to Lowe's, Home Depot, Lumber liquidators, and Discount Warehouse) buying unfinished wood and staining it. Justin's mom stained them all and Justin installed them. We also ended up going with stone for around the fireplace with mom and Marcelo did.

It was A LOT of work, but we LOVE the finished product:
